Application of vacuum pump in food and beverage industry
Many processes in the food and beverage industry can be optimized by the use of vacuum systems.
In addition, vacuum pumps can be used in food and beverage packaging to remove air, prolong food storage time, and remove odors.
Vacuum pump application
Mineral water degassing
Mineral water contains carbonic acid, minerals and iron. If it comes into contact with air, the dissolved iron in the water oxidizes, making the water less tasty. The water needs to be iron removed at a pressure of about 50mbar, but the carbides are first removed by a vacuum pump, which is then introduced to make soda water.
Salad oil and fat deodorizer
Long naked, will make salad oil and fat produce peculiar smell. The oxide must be removed before further treatment. This can be done by injecting steam, which absorbs odors, and then using vacuum equipment to remove the steam.
Tea and condiments sterilize
Tea and condiments imported from the tropics are placed in containers and loaded onto ships, often carrying pests, insects, fungi and bacteria that must be killed if further processing is required by placing the containers in a vacuum and evacuating the air. Steam or sterilizing gas is then injected into the vessel.
Sausage production
To produce sausages, the mixed meat is cut into small pieces and added with spices and additives. Removing air during cutting and mixing prevents the meat from being oxidized, which affects the taste and appearance of the sausage. A vacuum device is used to extract air at a pressure of approximately 100mbar. The vacuum pump used is not sensitive to the meat and particles extracted together.
Ham production
You can hardly see ham dried and smoked over a real fireplace. Instead, ham is made by soaking the meat, allowing it to be soaked faster and more directly after air is pumped out.
Tobacco products are humidified
Tobacco products packaged in boxes are too fragile if not properly wetted and can be broken to a fine powder during further processing. A vacuum pump is used to pump out the air in the box, adding steam and sometimes aromatics.
Vacuum evaporator
Liquid ring vacuum pumps can be used to assist the evaporation of liquid substances in the mixture. The evaporator is usually a packed tower. The vacuum pump can be made of standard or stainless steel according to the actual use environment. Vacuum evaporators can be used in many applications, such as milk evaporators in milk processing plants, concentrated liquid evaporators in pulp mills, crystallization devices in chemical plants and tray evaporators in sugar mills.
