Application of vacuum pump in mining and metallurgy industry
Application of vacuum pump in mining and metallurgy industry: vacuum smelting, degassing of molten steel, vacuum sintering, vacuum annealing, vacuum pressurized gas quenching, vacuum heat treatment, etc.

Vacuum pump application

Vacuum filter
Liquid ring pumps are well known for their use in cake dewatering on flat plate, drum, belt, and pre-coated filters. The correct calculation and selection of the liquid ring pump are based on the filtrate and filter type.

Multieffect evaporator
The end-effect evaporator is a typical vacuum. The liquid ring pump is used to remove non-condensable gas to maintain proper vacuum in the evaporator.

Gas recovery
Liquid ring compressors are used to recover carbon monoxide and other waste gases produced in smelting and other similar operations.

The gas extraction
The accumulation of gas in underground coal mines is very dangerous. Explosions and associated casualties may and have occurred, and vacuum systems designed specifically for such applications can help avoid such situations.

Field gas pressurization
Gas boost in mine is the process of boosting low-pressure gas from wellhead to high-pressure gas in high-pressure pipeline. Wellhead gas pressure is lower than atmospheric pressure, or relatively low positive pressure, need to use a vacuum pump or low pressure compressor to pump air, and increase its pressure to higher than atmospheric pressure 15-30psi. In the first step, a rotating vane, or a liquid ring pump, or a compressor is used to transfer the gas to the high-pressure compressor in the second step. High pressure compressors are usually rotary screw or reciprocating compressors that convey gas through pipelines to the treatment equipment.

Coal bed gas recovery
This application is common in coal mines, where there are two gases. One comes from microbes, and the other is a gas deposited in coal mines. By drilling a coal mine and finding the location of the deposited gas, vacuum pumps can be used to recover the gas, depending on the wellhead pumping and exhaust pressure. The gas is collected by a low-pressure vacuum pump and pressed into the pipeline by a high-pressure compressor for treatment or for combined power generation.
Normally, the recovered gas is clean, but there may still be a large amount of liquid entering the gas. The recycled gas has a number of uses, including gas stations for co-generation and processing and marketing.

Methane recovery
Biogas recovery can be described as the refinery's sewage system or gas recovery in production. Because of its composition, this gas is generally considered an exhaust gas. Because it contains a lot of HC gas, it is usually burned off.
A lot of times, there's some quality gas that's available, that's burned off, that has some BTU left over. This gas, once separated, can be recovered and pressed from the low pressure compressor into the pipeline compressor. These reciprocating compressors extract the gas to the maximum extent possible, compress and deliver it to the gas station, where it can be processed and used for combined power generation.
The concept of "turning waste into treasure" is applied here because it makes economic sense to recycle most of the gas to be burned, as well as as a source of energy and income. Minimising unnecessary burning of gas not only benefits the environment, but also solves income and opportunity problems.

Steel degassing
Before casting, liquid molten iron contained a large amount of gases, such as nitrogen and oxygen. In the degassing process, liquid molten iron is either cast in vacuum casting machine or vacuum equipment is used to reduce the gas content in molten iron.
Because of the large amount of gas, the jet acts as a vacuum generator. To save costs, sometimes liquid ring vacuum pumps are used in conjunction with jet engines.
